Coconut and citrus fruits: nourishing and cleansing oil for the skin

Coconut oil is a great product for health and is also ideal for beauty care as it is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is a nourishing, balancing and moisturizing oil that helps make the skin beautifully soft and radiant.

Citrus fruits bring freshness again and are a good addition to coconut in this natural skin oil.

So now we’re talking about a combination of extra-virgin coconut oil and citrus essential oils – to beautify your face while treating and combating pimples.

Coconut oil

Some time ago, this product was criticized for being a poor quality fat.

Today, however, it is known that coconut oil is a real superfood that is extremely beneficial for many types of health problems and is an excellent beauty product for all skin types.

In addition, extra-virgin coconut oil nourishes the skin deeply and prevents wrinkles from forming as well as firming. At the same time, it balances oil production and makes the skin softer.

Nourishing oil for all skin types

  • If your skin is very dry, you can combine coconut oil with almond or rosehip oil.
  • If your skin is oily again, you should mix coconut oil with aloe Vera gel. This combination is suitable for sensitive, acne prone and combination skin.

Citrus essential oils

These essential oils (such as those obtained from lemon, orange, mandarin, and grapefruit) are healthy and also have a wonderfully fresh scent.

  • They refresh and rejuvenate your skin.
  • Citrus essential oils make your skin radiant and fight pimples.
  • In addition, they prevent and treat already formed pimples and acne.
  • They work to fight depression, meaning they improve your mood and treat anxiety and stress.

Warning

However, keep in mind that if you plan to be in the sun, do not use citrus oils as they react to sunlight.

Therefore, the use of this coconut and citrus oil is recommended only in the evenings so that it can improve skin regeneration and treat pimples without risks. Alternatively, you can only use it on days when you are not going to be in the sun.

Coconut-citrus oil: preparation instructions

coconut oil

Now we will tell you how you can make this nourishing oil from coconut and citrus fruits.

Ingredients

  • 200 ml of extra virgin coconut oil
  • 20 drops of one or more essential citrus oils: lemon, orange, mandarin or grapefruit

Note that a dark glass jar should be used here in  order for the mixture to retain its good properties.

Manufacturing

  • Mix and shake the ingredients in a jar to create a smooth mixture.
  • However, keep in mind that coconut oil becomes solid if the temperature is below 24.5 degrees. In this case, thaw it first on the stove or by placing the jar in a bowl of hot water, but do not let it heat up too much.
  • Then add the essential oils.
  • It doesn’t matter if the oil then solidifies, because now the ingredients are already mixed together.

Use

  • Put this nourishing coconut and citrus oil on your skin before going to bed after removing makeup and washing your face.
  • Avoid eye contact to avoid irritation. Also avoid wounds or injuries.
  • You can apply the mixture anywhere on your body if you want softer and more radiant skin, or where there are pimples.
  • Remember that you can put on oil even during the day if you are not going to go out in the sun or if you cover the oiled areas with clothes.

  • softer and shinier hair
  • less greasy hair and more balanced oil production

Note, however, that this treatment is not recommended for very dry or colored hair.

Do the treatment like this

  • Put coconut-citrus oil on your hair before going to bed – put it from the roots to the tops.
  • When you apply the oil,  gently press the scalp and rub it to improve blood circulation and oil absorption.
  • Wash your hair twice the next morning to make sure the oil leaves.
  • Finally, you do not need conditioner.
